International Women’s Day

To mark International Women’s Day we held an event on 8 March to honour and talk about famous women of Ukraine who had a significant impact on the formation of national values ​​and the place of women in history.

Recently arrived Ukrainian Tamara Ionova, gave a wonderful presentation about Ukrainian women in history, their ethno-psychological traits and the role of women in ancient Ukrainian society and family.

Branch president, Liana Slipetsky, read a poem about by Sofia Krymovska about the Ukrainian woman:

I’m just a woman. I’m just a woman.
Five letters in a word – how much easier?
I am dear, I am beloved, I am yours,
I am the one who is the closest in the world.

Sad and tender. Silent and not.
I am the one to whom the palms are stretched out…
I am burned in the witch’s fire
and written in a golden icon…

In torment, I give you life,
and I clench my teeth – I let you go to war.
I stand staring at the window.
I am just a woman … and there is no end

to such simplicity. From the rib or not,
I am Eve, I am the temptress of Adam.
I am the one to whom songs are dedicated
and the one to whom they call simply “Mum…”

I’m just a woman. Sinful and holy,
weak and strong, gray and bright.
I’m just a woman, just a woman. The one
who needs happiness, not fame.

Міжнародний жіночий день

До Міжнародного жіночого дня 8 березня 2023 року ми провели акцію, щоб вшанувати та розповісти про відомих жінок України, які мали вагомий вплив на формування національних цінностей та місце жінки в історії.

Нещодавно прибула українка, Тамара Іонова, виступила з чудовою презентацією про українку в історії, її етнопсихологічні особливості та роль жінки в давньому українському суспільстві та родині.

Я просто жінка. Просто жінка я.
П’ять букв у слові – ну куди простіше?
Я люба, я кохана, я твоя,
я та, яка на світі найрідніша.

Сумна і ніжна. Мовчазна і ні.
Я та, якій протягують долоні…
Я палена у відьомськім вогні
і писана у золотій іконі…

У муках я життя тобі даю,
і зуби зціплю – на війну пускаю.
Біля вікна задивлена стою.
Я просто жінка … і немає краю

такій ось простоті. З ребра чи ні,
я Єва, я спокусниця Адама.
Я та, якій присвячують пісні
і та, якій гукають просто «Мамо…»

Я просто жінка. Грішна і свята,
слабка і сильна, сіра і яскрава.
Я просто жінка, просто жінка. Та,
якій потрібне щастя, а не слава.
